The Schlossberg hillside extends at an altitude of 230 to 350 m over the migmatites of Kaysersberg and the intrusive granite of Thannenkirch, whose arenas constitute a terroir of excellent mineral fertility, coarse sandy and clayey at the same time. The richness and diversity of the minerals encountered (potassium, magnesium, fluorine, phosphorus) determine the finesse and multiplicity of the aromas of its wines. On a steep slope, the Grand Cru Schlossberg requires cultivation on a terrace.
