Red wine2018
This wine has a fresh fruity character with smoky notes from barrel ageing. Aromas of violets, redcurrants, raspberries, cherries and plums are followed by a spicy note of liquorice, vanilla and pepper and some earthy tones. The wine is round and structured, with smoky oak notes and tannins, and a juicy mouthfeel with sufficient freshness.

Vinification
The vineyard is not irrigated, so the grapes contain more tannin and give a wine with more minerality. Fermentation takes place in large French barrels. 40 % of the wine matures in these barrels, which gives it its fruity aspect. The other 60% is aged in smaller French oak barrels, which gives the woody touch and more soft tannins.

About Bel Echo

Clos Henri is the domain of the Bourgeois family in Marlborough (New Zealand). Since many years they are respected winegrowers in the Loire region, and wanted to expand. Unfortunately, there were too few options for this. That is why in 2000 they decided to purchase 98 hectares of farmland in the Wairau Valley (New Zealand) and started the first plantations carefully. The first wines were produced in 2003. Marlborough is the best known and most important wine region in New Zealand. It is located on the northernmost summit of the southern island, has a dry and sunny climate and accounts for 75% of New Zealand's production.
