Vinification
After 15 years of maturation in American white-oak, ex-bourbon casks, around 30% of the whisky is transferred into Spanish Oloroso sherry casks for three years. When both parts have reached 18 years, they are blended together. The Oloroso casks provide an incredible degree of vibrancy, while the American oak balances the raisin-like sweetness of the sherry.

About Glenmorangie
Our story begins in 1843 with farmer William Matheson who, with his wife, Anne, set about building a distillery in the Scottish Highlands. Selling their whisky for mere shillings per gallon, the venture may have started small, its location remote, but the Mathesons' vision was extraordinary.
They were laying the foundations of what would become one of the most famous Scotch whisky distilleries in the world. Matheson's whisky was named after the peaceful land he loved. In Gaelic, the anient language of Scotland, "Glenmorangie" means "Valley fo Tranquility".
